Bognor Bible Bonus

Hundreds of Bibles have been given away by members of the PBCC in Bognor. On Friday, Brethren visited Bishop Tufnell CE Junior School in Felpham to donate a free Bible to every child in the school of 360 pupilsaged from 7 to 11.

Doug McIntyre of PBCC had offered Bibles to Shane Morton, Headmaster at the School, who had asked if this could include one Bible for every pupil. The Brethren have been glad to be give copies of the Bible to other establishments, but interest on this scale was something very special.

Brethren attended a whole school assembly on Friday morning, and were impressed by the quality and atmosphere of the school. Students from each class were given their own copy of the Holy Bible, and encouraged to read it, to learn more about Christ, and how God would have us behave. Mr Morton and his staff expressed total appreciation of the gift, supporting his desire to give every child a right start on their pathway in life.

The next day, just around the corner, the PBCC held a Public Information Event, at the Gospel Hall in Middleton Road, Felpham. A free gourmet barbecue-style lunch was enjoyed by a variety of visitors – young families, teenagers, elderly – together with a free Bible and other Christian literature. Local Brethren have held these popular events for several years, here and at churches in Aldingbourne and North Bersted.

Members of the public enjoying the BBQ lunch….

For some, this was simply an opportunity for an excellent meal – others were also glad of sympathetic interest in their difficult circumstances. One visitor was clearly moved as he received the Bible and said he would be ‘eternally grateful’. Other comments referred to the ‘very kind people’, the ‘happy atmosphere’, and were complimentary of the ‘very good food – amazed at the quantity’!

Before tucking into cookies and cakes!

A further donation of 30 Bibles was delivered to an organisation that care for asylum seekers. These people, suffering trauma, specifically requested their own Bibles and the PBCC were once again very happy to oblige.

The PBCC have been established in Bognor area since 1870, and have always played an active, yet not prominent, role in the community. Contact details, and times of Gospel preachings, are displayed outside the Brethren’s churches, and free bibles, and literature, are always available

I think it is so awesome to give the bibles to children, they all look so happy and innocent. Definatly important to teach the children about the Lord Jesus Christ from a very early age, and you can tell from the children’s faces they are so pleased to receive such a special gift!
