Donation to Salvation Army by Preston Down Trust

Preston Down Trust (part of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church) have recently donated a cheque to the Salvation Army of £8000 as part of its outreach.  At the recent presentation the cheque was gratefully received by Major Ian Harris – Divisional Commander for South Western Region along with Megan Armstrong – Divisional director for community services for the South Western Region.  They state that the funds will be used to support and fund equipment for an alcohol and drug recovery café in Liskeard along with general community outreach work in the area.  Much of their work is around providing a safe place for the needy, including homeless people in the area.  Major Ian Harris stated that there is a lot more need in the region and these funds will help support their work.  Mike Besley of the Preston Down Trust said that they were pleased to help such a worthy cause and that it is just one of many ways that they like to reach out to those in our society who need support.

Well Done. Even when you could be struggling over the fight against the Charity Commision you are still commited to help other people. I think this is a good attitude, very unselfish.

It’s so nice to see some real genuine people out there who are willing to give to help others. The Salvation Army are a great organisation and I admire the work that they do.
