Dublin RRT Assist Homeless Charity in Fun Run Event

The Simon Community held its 32nd Annual Fun Run in the beautiful surroundings of the Phoenix Park in Dublin on October 3rd 2015. The 5-mile route caters for both professional and amateur runners, with the charity inviting running clubs, school groups, corporate teams, family groups and friends to take part.

With almost 1,200 energetic participants, the event was another leap forward in helping the Simon Community achieve its vision; “Making home a reality”.  Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow and work with over 3,000 people a year in providing services at all stages of homelessness, to enable people to move to a place they can call home.

RRT Ireland valued the opportunity to show their compassion and support in this worthy cause. An overwhelming number of enthusiastic volunteers registered their willingness to assist on the day with duties including marshalling, road closures and diversions, housekeeping at the venue, distributing traffic cones, supply and distribution of refreshments, transportation of equipment and much more! Over 1,000 bottles of water were donated and handed out at the Finish Line and greatly appreciated by thirsty runners!

Following the success of the event, RRT received many acknowledgements from the Simon Community CEO and organisers, Fun Run participants, as well as the police. RRT were pleased to support this charitable event, and look forward to developing the relationship in the future.
