PBCC on Holyhead Road welcomes the crowds to its 3rd Free Lunch and Bible day

The event was held in the grounds of the Main Church hall on Holyhead Road, Shrewsbury on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon on the 6th September. Over the course of the one hour event a total of 18 visitors arrived to enjoy the free Burgers, Salad, Chips, cookies and fruit and were able to meet with other local residents and members of the Plymouth Brethren church community. Visitors of all ages came from across Shrewsbury to enjoy their free lunch and collect their free Bible and Gospel literature.

The Plymouth Brethren have an established church in Shrewsbury and regularly engage in community activity through preachings of the gospel in the street and via the distribution of free gospel tracts.  Public church services are held at the Holyhead Road Gospel hall every Sunday afternoon.

Visitors were very positive about the event saying that ‘it was a useful event to provide an opportunity to meet other people in the community’. Another commented on how interesting it was to see the joint effort from members of the community and the friendly atmosphere.  Others said the free Bible and Gospel literature pack was ‘wonderful’. And they looked forward to ‘studying it later’.

A local lady said ‘the children need a special commendation – they were all beautifully well mannered and interested in the public and people they didn’t previously know.

Visitors commented on how much they enjoyed the food, saying it was ‘absolutely delicious’, ‘very well prepared and presented’.

Mr Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, also visited and spoke to many members of the congregation covering a wide range of topics such as Scottish Independence, Europe, exporting goods to other countries and issues affecting local councils. He also commented on the lovely lunch and free Gospel literature.

The event was advertised through leaflets distributed in the local Admag paper, by young church members and roadside signage.
